I have been taking photographs for about 29 years as an amateur only. I was employed by the Eastman Kodak Company in 1974. I left the company after 22 years in 1996 to concentrate on our retail computer store. The irony of this information is that I never worked with photography at Kodak except for microfilm service. I am a self taught photographer. I did have one quarter of "creative photography" a night class. I have owned five digital cameras and I converted from film to digital in 2000. I shot 14,000 digital photos in Australia and from that point on I have been strickly digital. I still own a Canon AE-1 and EOS A2, and a Crown Graphic Special 4 X 5 camera. Most of the photos on this site were shot with a Sony FD 91 floppy drive camera. It is classified as a one megapixel camera but it is some what less. The rose photo found under Australia 2 is a great example of what this camera can do. Then I purchased a Sony FD-95 that shoots to diskette or memory stick. The spring and fall barn shots were shot with the FD-91 and the winter shot with the FD-95. This camera shoots too slow so I sold it within weeks of buying it. While shooting to the memory stick it could take 15 seconds to write. In 2001 I purchased a Canon D-30 to use my Canon lens with it. The canon D-30 is a 3.5 megapixel camera and uses an IBM microdrive that has a one gig of storage. The drive holds 799 photos. This is nice when shooting a lot of photos! I agree with an article I saw a year or so back, "A digital camera will make you a better photographer". You don't worry about taking the shot or how much it is going to cost you. Well I hope you enjoy the photos. Soon we will be traveling more in our motor home taking photos all over the United States. We plan to visit each state and stay there about four weeks in each state. |
